Today i had the opportunity to speak with Abilio Soto and share the idea that we have of going to Guate. He was overjoyed and excited, perhaps more than we are. The unfortunate thing about the chance meeting was the occasion; it was a funeral.
The first meeting with him is set for Saturday, the 30th of August. We’ll see where it goes from here.
Today i was with my bro and he put on this track that my cousins husband had laid out for his church. The thing is that what they would do is play this track which has keys and some sax and then on top of that they would play guitar and drums live. They did this, i suppose, because they did not have enough people who knew how to play an instrument. It seems to me that thye know about hard work, doing things under limits and doing a lot with a little, so much more than we do here. We have it so good and many times so easy.
This makes me have to ask the question, what are we going to go impart and do? I don’t mean to say that we have nothing to offer but perhaps hard work and making much out of little perhaps will NOT be one of our strong suits to offer.
Two ideas to begin the process of bringing this dream to life…
Yesterday we made one major decision….
We questioned whether we where jumping into this too hastily or if it was God tugging so we decided that we’d research and pray individually and then on thanksgiving we’d come together, talk about the ideas the Lord has put in our hearts and so all this trip is a dream until Thanksgiving Day 2008.
We also decided that if we come together and we have a lot of the same ideas, feelings and purposes, that we’d take that as confirmation about this trip.
One key thing for me is… what is everyone’s purpose for dong this? This needs to be asked collectively and individually.
In the year 2010 a couple of friends and I have the idea/dream of going to serve in Guatemala for about a 1 month term. I hope this trip will be one of those life changing moments that I will dream of for the rest of our walking days. This is why we are slating the trip for two years from now. An incredible amount of planning, dreaming and preparation is to be made between now and then. The hope of this site is to be a central organizing page for my own ideas and thoughts and then eventually, a communal page to serve the same purpose.
